I have a client who is looking to get rid of EasySocial and replace it with Community Builder. Is there any documentation on how to do this? Or is this a lot simpler than we are thinking it would be? :)

We don't have an official migration documentation from EasySocial at this time. If you can provide the database structure for EasySocial I can try and provide some example queries to get you started in moving the data to CB though.

Hi, I'm also evaluating a migration from Easysocial to Community Builder.

@krileon
are there any other interested users who want to switch from easysocial? or is an importer perhaps being planned for the migration?
because some easysocial users are probably looking for an alternative due to the fact that stackideas no longer offers support - that would be very helpful for a migration (or at least some how-to migration support to make a good shift).

We do not have a migration tool for EasySocial. It maybe something we explore in the future, but we don't really have the funding available to purchase all these other extensions to make migration tools for them and maintain those tools. Especially so when they cost twice as much as we do.

I imagine the easiest way to migrate would be to first setup CB as desired then look at the database structures of both (all of CBs tables are prefixed with _comprofiler) then write whatever SQL you need to move the user profile data over to CB.

If EasySocial is being discontinued then it might be possible to get the final release from StackIdeas if they were willing and we could possibly then create a migration tool (footing the development cost ourselves). Otherwise I don't see such a tool happening without someone to fund its development.
