Is it difficult to create a linked alphabetical index at the top of a member list? For instance, I have a member list sorted by user last name. I would like to have this kind of thing appear at the top of the list, even above the headers:
A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W
By clicking one of the letters, it would pull up members whose last name begins with that letter.
Is there some clever bit of code I can enter into the description field of the list that would generate such a linked index?
If this isn't a simple little string, what kind of cost would be involved with having somebody create this? I only need it on one list...

It wouldn't be terribly difficult for a programmer to query the user database looking for users whose last name start with the letter you clicked and list them.
