Ajax E-mail checker in backend was created by kakina
When modifying a user in "user management" the email is checked even when Require Email Confirmation is set to "no"

As far as I know this is intended behaviour and cannot be disabled. You can set CB to override warnings when editing users in the backend.

It happens also with "Fields validation in Admin" set to no.

By the way, the same applies to the username field but the emailaddress check is rather annoying because checking can take up to 30 seconds even when the address is valid.

I consider this a bug since if it fails, it also sets the users email address to unconfirmed which is incredibly annoying!
