In the install documentation, it says:
"There are many nice utilities that you can install on your CMS to assist you in the backup process and hopefully never needed restoration process."

Can you provide us with recommended utilities? (No warranty understood - just a few suggestions to look at).

Akeeba seems to change the #__comprofiler fields to jos_comprofiler.

Have to rebuild the database after restoring the site and then manually change some of the field names (custom fields) from "jos_" to "#__"

You are right, the 3.0 stable release suffers from this regression issue. However, you can always use the latest developer's release: www.akeebabackup.com/developer-releases/01-akeebacore.html . After restoration just use the maintentance feature to fix the tables, making sure that everything works properly. If you run into any problems do not hesitate to report it on this thread, or open a new thread in www.akeebabackup.com/forum.html Thank you!

Thanks Niko,

Is the development version okay for a production site?

Also, does the regression issue occur during the back up? (ie can I use the current 3.0 to make backups) or does the issue occur during the restoration?

Many thanks,

I think Akeeba is a GREAT component!
