Types of users

I'm trying to figure out how many different types of users you can have with cbsubs.

Is there a limit? If so, what is the limit?

CB/CBSubs does not really create different types of users.
It allows you to create different subscription plans where users can subscribe to.
You can then differentiate services you give to plan subscribers.

For example you can do the following:

+ subscribers to plan-A are given an extra CB Tab to post their bioagraphy
+ subscribers to plan-B can access all content in Joomla content category X
+ subscribers to plan-C can post in specific forum categories (done with Kunena and URL-parts protection - see our Advanced/Professional areas on this site that only allow subscribers to post)
+ subscribers of plan-D can download specific items (done with DOCman integration)
+ subscribers of Plan-E can see specific site statistics module

The list goes on ... hopefully the concept is clear.

This helps, but doesn't quite answer the question.

There is no hard limit on the number of plans you can create.

One additional question. Can you have different registration types for the types of users - i.e. I want one class of users to be able to self register and another class to have to be approved.

A CBSubs plan shown during registration can over-ride the default CB workflow settings.

So answer is yes.
