CB Captcha question was created by yamadan
Hi,

Before I purchase cb captcha, what else can I try to stop spam sign ups.
And if I use the captcha will this really stop the spam?

I have struggled with spam sign ups for quite a while, implementing as many spam methods possible all to no avail.
The spam user sign ups need to confirm by email, and spam still gets through that check...
Also some user sign ups don't even fill in a decent attempt at a name & email.
eg
name: -
email: -

I do have the settings for check email is actual etc..
How can spam get through with just entering "-" ?
Thought basic php expressions dealt with this? or do I need to set these myself?

I do like cb, but it does not seem suitable for those who do not like spam sign ups 3 or 4 times a day.
I am a free user but this does not fill me with confidence to upgrade, or can those paying for this service tell me otherwise?

Thanks for any help or tips.

CB Captcha will help to stop automated spamming - people (aka humans) can still manually complete any captcha challenge and create an account on your website.

This is most likely not a CB issue - spammers are getting through your Joomla process most likely.

Glad you like CB - sounds like you have not configured things properly.
You will benefit by becoming an Advanced member and getting access to Captcha and detailed CB manual.

I have set the normal joomla user registration to NO in the options.
Can spammers still get through that?
