I don't understand what you mean by article for download?
If its a file that is to be downloaded, then you can use DOCman to store it and CBSubs will integrate with DOCman to add a user to the appropriate DOCman group do allow downloading and when subscription ends it can remove user from group.
If the article is a Joomla content item, then CBSubs can also handle this.
