Hi,

An existing membership system is being converted and incorporated into CB and CB Subs.

One long term aspect of the existing system is a unique sequential member number. This is also used as a key to other PC systems, separate from the website. We would like to maintain this approach into the future.

Is there an approach in CB and/or CB Subs to allocate a unique number, in sequential order, to newly registered (and paid) members and then to reserve this for this membership entry? (Membership numbers are not re-used).

Regards,

Robert

Isn't the already Joomla maintained userid not enough?

It has all the characteristics you require.

Hi Nick,

We have a number of long establish independent IT systems, Library, Education etc. that use a five digit "membership number" as the unique access key.

We are trying to maintain "connect ability" between associated systems.

Is it possible?

Robert

If the issue is just displaying something you get from a different database, then you can use a CB Query field as long as you can query your remote database table off something unique for each existing user (email perhaps?).

Cannot offer more suggestions based on my current understanding of your systems.
