I have no interest in receiving any emails. I signed up because I needed to download something for a client and that is all. After the first email I clicked on the "Manage your subscriptions" link and ensured all of the checkboxes were cleared yet I am still getting spam. Why is this?

That's very strange, and sorry about that!
I just checked your profile, but as we do not keep profile-changes-history, can't see the changes. We will do some further tests over the next week to make sure that the newsletter setting is respected for all non-system/notification emails.
You should not get any further emails from us (except for subscribed notifications like replies to this thread).
