user types and modules was created by joebso
I am trying to figure out how to make this happen

when one visits a certian type of user (i.e. type 1, type 2, type 3,) different modules are loaded in the template.

I'm happy to do most of the figuring out I'm just having a hard time getting started. can you guys point me in the right direction?

Modules display is purely Itemid based. All users have the same Itemid so I don't see how this would be very possible, at least not in a dynamic environment like this. You'd need to have a template that dynamically generated module positions based off the users id; you'd then need to add new modules everytime a new user registered for that module position.

Thanks.

Looks like I'm going to have to do it through templates. I guess my new adventure is looking for a way to make it so when a user has a selected site template that it is apparent to anyone viewing their profile.

I don't suppose you have any ideas there?

You could try the incubator project CB Template Changer to allow your users to change their profile and site template; can't recall if it also displays their selected template for viewing users (believe it does), but it's not yet J1.6/J1.7 compatible (will update when time permits).
