I've been trying to figure out where the CSS is for the Request Connection popup. It's transparent and looks pretty bad as all the text is just on top of what's behind it. I tracked some of it down to some javascript that looks like it's trying to prevent me from changing anything. Am I missing something. Is there an easy way to just set the background to solid white?
Your template is restyling the background. You'll need to inspect it with Firebug for Firefox to find the CSS that's causing it. It uses the same styling as the tooltips seen when mousing over an "i" icon next to a field in profile edit. Below are the classes for its backgrounds.

If using a custom CB template it could also be simply missing the classes, which if is the case please compare your templates CSS to CBs default template CSS.
