(SOLVED) registration error after upgrade to cb1.7 was created by norfolkandway

CB1.7

Hi
when a user registers
user is taken to registration complete page and email is received with confirmation link.
when clicking on confirmation link user is taken to index page but not logged in although backend shows as logged in.
They can then login, but are not automatically logged in from email link.
cbconfig > registration > URL for first login visit = blank

I also have cbconnect installed and user can login for first time using facebook login

FYI
User Settings
Allow User Registration No

Allow User Registration = yes independently of global site setting

CB tools all run with success - no errors

Any help would be most appreciated

The confirmation link has never automatically logged the user in. It's working as intended.
