Confused about Yanc status

What newsletter component can we use if we want integration with CB? I am in the midst of configuring CB 1.7.1 on a Joomla 1.7 site. The cb1.7.1_manual says on p.98 that the Newsletter tab integrates with the Yanc component. On p.105 it says "the Yanc component is not Joomla 1.5.x native compatible yet and may also have problems with legacy plugin enabled." The manual also says on p.11 that the "Newsletter tab (included for Legacy Yanc reasons)."

I've looked at the Yanc webpage www.joomla-addons.org/joomla-components/yanc.html where they say "NB: Community Builder integration is not present at this point, it's very much on the todo list though."

All this discourages me from even trying to install Yanc. I wonder what the CB developers' vision or plan is for the future of newsletter integration? Are we supposed to wait for Yanc?

Yanc as far as I know is no longer supported as a newsletter extension.

With CB 1.7.x and Joomla 1.7.x, I recommend AcyMailing newsletter extension which has good integration with CB (and CBSubs) included.
