[SOLVED] php memory - please advise

I have read a number of forum posts relating to fatal errors caused by php memory limits and understand that the solution is to increase php memory. Most of these posts point to low php memory issues however mine is already set at 64mb and I keep getting fatal errors (example below) even though I have stripped down the site as much as possible even deleting the likes of Kunena (which I would really like to use).

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 491520 bytes) in <span>/</span>home<span>/</span>##########/modules/mod_cblogin/mod_cblogin.php on line 379

The latest error came after adding an auto action to amend a field value based on a country field.

I guess my question to yourselves is...

Is this a site problem or is it indeed common place to require a php memory limit in excess of 64mb?

If it is a site issue this may be caused by my installing then deleting a number of extensions during the dev process??? If it's a php memory issue what level would you advise as my current hosting company (shared server) refuses to increase the limit...?

I don't think the extensions loaded are excessive and my current functionality includes;

• CB and plugins
• CBsubs and plugins
• Groupjive and plugins
• Geocode factory (google maps)
• JCE editor
• SugaryCB for linking to CRM (although not set up)
• Multi Sites for creating child sites off the same db

I am on a wee bit of a deadline with this so any 'quick' advice would be appreciated.

With Kunena still present and the CB Auto Action configured is the issue present? If so does disabling CB Auto Actions resolve it? If not does disabling CB GroupJive resolve it? You've no need to uninstall anything, you can disable entire extensions infact from Joomla 1.7 Extension Manager. If you want Kunena then by all means keep it and lets debug with it present for a more ideal environment.

Also am not familiar with "Multi Sites for creating child sites off the same db", but sounds like this could be a problem. Does disabling it resolve your issue? Have you viewed your site with debug mode and maximum error reporting enable to see if there are any errors and to see the memory usage?

Line 379 of the login module is "case 10: // JAM (Joomla Advanced Message), J1.5 only:", which doesn't seam problematic by any means. Please ensure your site is also using CB 1.7.1 login module.

I have completely deleted kunena so this is not the issue.

If I disable cb auto actions I do not get the error.

If auto actions is enabled I get the following error even though Multisites is disabled.

If I disable Groupjive but keep Auto Actions on then I still get the error message.

Looking at this it seems that Auto Actions is the culprit...although when I first started getting error messages I there were no auto actions setup...?

I am up to date with my modules but will re-install CB Login 1.7.1

Debug and max error is on but that's all a bit beyond me...

Any ideas?

Update...

If I delete the auto action then I still get the error.

If I un-publish auto actions the error dissapears but I am not sure that auto actions is the cause. I think something is causing the site to use too much memory

Something is certainly absorbing a lot of memory. Have you tried disabling non-core extensions 1 by 1 from J1.7 Extension Manager to see if memory limits drop to an acceptable amount? Even on a completely overbloated full debug mode local install I'm not pushing over 40mb.
