If checked you should get an email informing you of new attendance. If not checked you shouldn't get a notification. Doesn't particularly matter at this point as that parameter is being removed in GJ 2.5 as I'm implementing a new Notification system that has a full notification page letting users select specifically what notifications they want to receive (e.g. new wall posts, new wall replies, new events, event attendance, etc..).
