CB Blogs categories not working

12 years 6 months ago #198568 by jacobsandin
CB Blogs categories not working was created by jacobsandin
Hi,

Trying to add CB Blogs, and I set Categories under the Config-Internal, but when I try to create a blog the Category dropdown is empty. Same with the dropdown on Config-Defaults.

I tried with the default setting also... no luck.

Kind Regards
Jacob

If you're using CMS based CB Blogs then you need to select a blog section under the CMS config tab. Your CMS section should have categories of its own. Example of how your categories should be in J2.5.

Blogs
- General
- Movies
- Videos

Then in CB Blogs under CMS you'd select "Blogs". When you create a new blog you'd have "General", "Movies", and "Videos" to select from as a category.

Kyle,

I am not shure I get this blog :)

I can create blogs as a new user but I do not get a WYSIWYG I guess thats just some rights I missed.

However:
Is the blog also the article itself... or how does the user create blog articles? Because it seem I can create any number of blogs but no articles in/under them. Am I geting the termilogy wrong? Do I need any other addons such as a blog addon?

Kind Regards
Jacob

It uses the CMS to handle storage and display of blogs. For example it uses Joomlas content extension to handle storage and display (excluding the display of the profile tab). This allows the hundreds of Joomla content extensions to also work on blogs (such as comment extensions). If you don't want it to use Joomla then you don't have to. Simply set the Model in the CB Blogs configuration to Internal and it'll use its own internal database to store blogs. WYSIWYG editor works perfectly fine, review your editor to ensure it's configured properly.

Nah I would rather use Joomla, for the reasons you state... its just that I cannot find where/how to make articles under the blog(s) I create as the user.

By the way Internal gave me this error...

Blog failed to save! Error: cbblogsblog::store failed: Unknown column 'section' in 'field list' SQL=INSERT INTO `jos_comprofiler_plugin_blogs` (`id`,`user`,`title`,`blog_intro`,`blog_full`,`category`,`created`,`access`,`published`,`ordering`,`section`,`section_name`,`section_access`,`section_published`,`category_name`,`category_access`,`category_published`) VALUES ('0','63','testar','','','Annat','2012-04-24 23:10:21','2','1','1','0','Blogs','0','1','Annat','2','1')

The editor problem btw was JCE not being allowed for all users by default.
