GJ already displays groups on profile. You can find its tab in CB > Tab Management after installation. I can't help you with core edits as we do not support them, sorry.

You should be able to just move the groups tab if you want it displayed next to, below, etc.. the profile picture. You can edit GJs template files at the below location.
