When I try to add a new field, I'm now getting the error:

moscomprofilerFields::store failed: CBSQLupgrader::changeColumn (ADD) of Table #__comprofiler Column cb_y6sundown failed with SQL error: Row size too large.

I've googled the problem, and found this suggestion by Beat:

www.joomlapolis.com/forum/64-rc3-general-discussions/78961-comprofiler-table-reaches-maximum-database-fields#78981

However, following his instructions was impossible, because when I go to CB -> tools -> check CB database , there is no option to 'fix'.

Is his work around still possible? If not, is there an alternative solution?

Yes.

You can edit the columns directly in database table _comprofiler, but tools checking will say they're wrong type anytime you run it.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I changed the value in cb.core.xml in /components/com_comprofiler/plugin/user/plug_cbcore as follows:

Then going CB -> tools -> check CB database, this is what I see. There are errors which I think are caused by the CB privacy plugin, but no option to fix.

I'd prefer to stick to tried and tested methods if possible before hacking around in the database.

Attached is a CB 1.8.1 cb.core.xml file with the changes made for you. Simply unzip and copy/paste/replace to components/com_comprofiler/plugin/user/plug_cbcore/. Once replaced run CB Tools for it to fix the types.

Thanks, that file fixes the problem. However, I now have another problem where CB conditional has stopped working for certain fields. I'm not sure if this is related to the cb.core.xml changes, but I tried backing out those changes and it hasn't fixed it. I've created a new thread for this problem here:

www.joomlapolis.com/forum/153-professional-member-support/205319-cb-conditional-not-working-for-some-fields

Doesn't look related. The change simply changes the database type of a fields _comprofiler column.
