My CB user search does not return results as expected. I have the fields "name" and "firstname" enabled for search. When I go to the front end and search for a registered user, the user DOES NOT appear if I search with "firstname" but DOES appear when I search with that user's full name. This is a problem because my users are searching for each other and can't find one another.
You have your userlist search mode set to "Simply is" instead of "Simply any". Edit your userlist, scroll to the bottom, and set "Search crieteria:" to "Simple Any word match: Only 'any of' and ranges (WARNING: can be slow)".

Name field is only used if you use single name format. Have firstname and lastname fields configured for searching in CB Search Bot and the search value they input will check both fields. Note if you want to search by full name then you need to set "Search for" to "Any words". You can't search for exact match unless you have a single field that combines the name (name field).

maybe that is it?? I see "CB Search Bot" in Add Ons section. But when I click "download", it takes me to Professional Downloads section and I can't find it. I have CB Search plugin installed and settings include First Name, Last Name
Screenshot attached.
Maybe the CB Search plugin is what you mean which then is crazy that I can't search by full name. If that is the case, is there a way to have "any words" set to default? Otherwise, user searches for "john doe" and
1. finds nothing and gives up
2. searches for "john" or "doe" and finds
3. Is search friendly enough to know to check the "any words" button and search again.
