CB Search Bot is the CB Search Plugin, we use "Bot" from mambo/J1.0 days before Joomla renamed it to Plugin so people don't confuse Joomla plugins with CB plugins.

If that is the case, is there a way to have "any words" set to default?

I don't think you can. I've checked the search module and component and see no parameter to set the default of "Search for".

I don't mean to sound rude but that almost sounds like a bug???

I mean, if I (in configuration) turn "Name Style" to "First and Last Name Field" and then have "Name Format" set to "name only"

and a user comes to my site... sees Foo Bar's profile
then comes back a day later and types "Foo Bar" in the search field and the results turn up nothing.... that seems crazy.

Many users will not know to select the "any words" and even if they do, that seems a unnecessary step when in configuration, I have told CB that I want the name displayed.. as a full name.

Anyway.. just my 2c. Thank you for all you guys do. I truly love and appreciate it.

It's not a bug, it works exactly like Userlist searching except it's 1 input. Meaning if you had firstname and lastname on userlist you'd need to supply them separately. If you want single name field then change the format to single name.

Maybe an alternative is to have a tab that's in a not shown on profile position, using CB Privacy you hide this tab from profile edit (disable its edit display), then using CB Auto Actions with after registration and after profile update you populate a field on this hidden tab with firstname and lastname; now you set that field as your searchable field.

OK reporting back with solution. As i am a little lite on spare memory, I skipped the CB Privacy Plugin (suggestion above) and everything still works.

Here are the steps:

1. Create a tab: I called mine "Hidden Tab" and hide it using CB Conditionals (screenshot #1)
2. Create a field: I called mine "Full Name" and make sure it is searchable in user lists (screenshot #2)
3. Go to extension management > plugins > CB Search and include the "Full Name" field in search (screenshot #3)
4. Create a Auto Action Field Type (afterRegistration, afterProfileUpdate) and populate it with the [name] field (screenshot #4)

That should do it and i hope it helps others.
