I'm running into difficulty when applicants respond to the
prompt for email confirmation during the registration process.

Rather than being directed to a page which acknowledges
their confirmation, applicannts wind up at a
login page. There seems to be a redirect somewhere that I can't find.

Thus :

Destination specified in application confirm email is :

dev.XXX.org/0927/index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=confirm&confirmcode=regfed0b30a9ecc8f4c4c8386bd2425bc3302a17dd3&Itemid=116

Actual destination reached is :

dev.XXX.org/0927/index.php?option=com_content&view=featured&Itemid=101

Has anyone seen something like this ?

You're missing a public and published Joomla menu link to CBs profile page. Check the access permission to the menu link that belongs to id 116.
