update a read only filed ? was created by moomola
As a superadmin, I can't update fields that are declared as "read only" for
users ( weither in their profiles or in my own one ).

This worked (I mean I was able to update any field as a superadmin) under joomla 1.5 / cb 1.4.

I now use joomla 2.5.7 and cb 1.8.1

This is a real problem to me since I use certain fields for administrative
matters.

I also not quite some php warnings in my logs (not sure this can be linked with
the problem I'm facing) :

If you upgrade to CB 1.9 the strict errors should be resolved.

thanks,

I have upgraded joomla and cb, I still can't update profile as superadmin from the backend (nor "save" button nor "cancel" button work, nothing happen when I click on it).

I get now this php error when I list users in the backend:

[09-Nov-2012 13:38:33] PHP Strict Standards: Only variables should be assigned by reference in /../plugins/system/plugin_component/plugin_component.php on line 53
[09-Nov-2012 13:38:33] PHP Strict Standards: Declaration of JParameter::loadSetupFile() should be compatible with that of JRegistry::loadSetupFile() in /../libraries/joomla/html/parameter.php on line 24

And this when I view a profile :

[09-Nov-2012 13:41:45] PHP Strict Standards: Only variables should be passed by reference in /../components/com_comprofiler/plugin/user/plug_cbconditional/cbconditional.class.php on line 743

Ah !

If I unpublish the "CB Conditional" plugin, then I can
update the profiles again !

Shame since I wanted to use "CB conditional" to provide
access to certain fields upon specific flags filled in
the profiles. Visually, it works (to hide or view specific
fields upon criteria tuned with "cb conditional". But
once done, I can't update profiles anymore).

Ah, ah !

If I "disable usage of conditions in Backend" then I can update others
profiles as a super admin, otherwise, I can't (nothing happens if I try,
I stay stuck on the user profile).

If this was "a feature", I would recommend an explicit "error message".

It's a feature and it's disabled by default, you turned it on. It causes conditions to fully function in backend (typically not recommended, which is why it's off by default). The messages you're seeing are strict standard warnings at any rate and are not errors; please do not use PHP 5.4 as none of the incubator projects are PHP 5.4 tested. If on PHP 5.3 then adjust your error reporting in php.ini to exclude strict standard warnings.
