checkbox fields not working correctly was created by pmsiegel

We have some fields that are labeled checkbox. The fields display in the frontend in the user portal but they are not checkable. They are there but nothing happens you can't check them or uncheck them. I just upgraded to CB 1.9 and have joomla 2.5
