Email issue on password reset continues to fail.

CB 1.8
Joomla 2.5.7
CB Subs

All system emails working fine except password reset. CB Reg emails ok, Joomla emails ok.

System config set to default of PHP Mail for mails.

Can't understand why CB can send emails for everything else but not password reset.

Please ensure you're testing with a regular registered user as Administrators are not permitted to reset their password for security purposes. Please also upgrade to CB 1.9.

Yes it's a normal registered user.

I can't upgrade to 1.9 right now, I'm in production.

Is there a fix in 1.9 I should know about?

What are the recommended Joomla mail settings for CB and CB Subs to ensure all emails are sent? Currently I'm on PHP Mail and all mail working except password reset.

Cheers,

That's a lot of fixes in 1.9 for J2.5/J3.0 usage. I can't recall anything specifically but I know there was fixes made to the password reset feature. I suggest making a clone of your site then upgrading on the clone and see if it fixes the clone.

Whatever is required by your host, PHP mailer is fine. Please enable debug mode and maximum error reporting then attempt to use password reset and provide any on-screen errors you see.

Debug on, Maximum error reporting and no errors displayed, just the same system message Password reset failed!

Any other ideas? It's really not practical for me to upgrade at the moment.

Oh god, just realised what this is!

I was only entering a username, I didn't realise you had to enter the email too.

Oh man, some client-side validation on that page would be nice. It accepts a single username and not email and then just fails.
