CB Template Changer - Viewer's mode

12 years 1 month ago #215388 by pepperstreet
CB Template Changer - Viewer's mode was created by pepperstreet
There seems to an issue with CB Template Changer and the mode "Viewer". Tried to use it for the following purpose:

- Let Admin/SuperAdmin change his template to another style, e.g. BootStrap or CustomTemplate in Progress
- Users still have and see there usual template
- Admin can visit the users profile and test his creation and changes

I assume the plugin mode "Viewer" is able to serve this purpose. But it does not display the admin's template. The source and classes still show DEFAULT template... and the visual appearance is ordered from top to bottom... it looks incomplete, no tab styles, some sort of raw output.

The "User" parameter determines whos template is displayed. The user being displayed or the user viewing. If it's set to Viewer that means when I view another users profile I'll see the template that I selected. This is not an access permission, it does not say it is anywhere (see the mouseover info icon). If you want to limit the field to admins only then set "User" to "Displayed" then edit your template changer field and using CB Privacy set its edit display to moderator only.

Yes, its more or less what i want.
See my own template. Not the user's template. The template I have set as an admin. But it does not show the template.

EDIT:
BTW, I also tried to set the access on the plugin itself to special. That seems to hide the changer for registered, and allows the admin to change it. Does this setting collide with the normal configuration?

Just checked it again:

- J25 does work with mode "Viewer". Admin sees his selected template style.
- J15 does not work. See my first post.

This doesn't make any sense to me, please explain. If User is set to Displayed then your profile will show the template you have selected; it does nothing to other users profiles, which will display what they have selected. If User is set to Viewer then it'll display the template you have selected on everyones profiles (only you see this).

Yes. ?!? How can I explain ...

I am the admin.
The admin should see HIS selected template style. For his own... AND all other profiles he visits. Thats exactly what you described and what the mode "VIEWER" does. I am happy so far...

Except for my J1.5 test.
Seems to work on J2.5.
Both with latest CB and Plugins.

Joomla version should have no affect as it's purely CB API usage and has nothing to do with Joomla unless you've caching or something of the sort present that's caching the old display. Often you need to refresh a few times to get the new CSS to load in.
