And from your short reply I guess there is nothing I can do to provoce it, or include another trigger in the other rules that will make it fire if I update a field?

If you had a PHP action I suppose you could fire it there, but it doesn't fire it on purpose to avoid infinite loops. For example if you want to do a field action with the after profile update trigger and it fired the after profile update trigger you'd have an infinite loop and it'd basically crash your site.
