Menu item type Selection for Search was created by lbaril
Hi,
in the admin, when adding a menu item type and clicking on selection, hte choice for comprofiler is :

User Profile (mandatory!)
Users lists
User profile edit
Username/Password reminder
Registration page
Login page
Logout action

Is it possible to add Search ?

Or if not possible I'd like to use Users Lists but on hte front end once clicking on this menu item, the search should be visible , not just as a link but all deployed as if one had clicked on that link.
thanks

Users lists is Search so don't understand the question. Joomla depreciated "task" so all the menu links say "Logout action" after clicking one, but that's just a display issue; however none of the menu links special parameters show up such as the ones for the Users lists menu link to set it to be search mode for example.

thanks
it would be nice to land on a page with search fields visible.
Right now one lands on a page where one has to click on a link to see the search fields and the submit (or search) button.

Create and external Joomla menu link with the search mode URL provided to you when editing a userlist and it'll do just that.

Don't understand the issue. You need to edit your userlist and grab the search link. It should look like the below.

index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=usersList&listid=4&searchmode=1

You'd then copy the URL supplied by your list to a new External Joomla menu link. This will present the search inputs immediately on display.
