User's articles in blog view was created by jfjweb
Hi all,

J1.5.26 (will be migrating soon to J2.5)

Is there an extension/plugin that will allow user to submit an article/blog/entries and will display it on a tab on their profile in a blog view mode (introtext and read more). I have tested CB Blogs and CB ProfileBook (ProfileBlog) extensions so far. I like the CB Blogs where you can control the available categories for them (as long as their under the same section), and user gets the WYSISYG editor. But CB Blogs only display the articles as a list and not in blog view. Is there a way to change this? The ProfileBlog does show more than just a list of entries, but it displays the whole blog (instead of just having the read more option). Also, the ProfileBlog editor uses a simple BB like editor which won't do us any good since most of our users are just authors and editors.

Thanks,
Jay Jose

Edit the tab template of CB Blogs, it can quite literally display any way you want. You'll find the template files at the below location.

components/com_comprofiler/plugin/user/plug_cbblogs/templates/

Aside from that CB ProfileBook with Blog tab is closest to the display you're wanting, but it has no categories and used BBCode instead of WYSIWYG with HTML.

So does this mean when using the CB ProfileBook that there is no WYSIWYG editor option ?

I see on this site:http://wysiwygbbcode.codeplex.com/

"It works like any web-based WYSIWYG editor, but it inputs and outputs BBCode instead of HTML."

Why was this chosen instead of an HTML based WYSIWYG editor??

My user testing is proving that the editor on my blog tab that is CB ProfileBook is difficult for a novice to understand.

Correct.

Why was this chosen instead of an HTML based WYSIWYG editor??

Because CB ProfileBook is like 5+ years old, lol. It's due for a complete rewrite for CB 2.0 where it'll be WYSIWYG (using Joomlas editor as many incubator projects do).

My user testing is proving that the editor on my blog tab that is CB ProfileBook is difficult for a novice to understand.

Sorry, there's no way to change this without completely rewriting the plugin to use a different editor. Alternatively is to use CB Blogs, which is more like what a user would expect for blogging (categories, full WYSIWYG, etc..).
