Problem with PHP losing connection to MySQL...

11 years 8 months ago #221613 by jordand714
We have been experiencing consistent but irregular loss of our site that requires our admin to re-start MySQL. We have reached out to our hosting company and they have suggested the intermittent problem is coming from our "site software". They tell us that MySQL appears to be running but not communicating with PHP. As an example, the following error message is typical of what appears from the front end when the site goes down:

Fatal error: Call to a member function getAuthorisedViewLevelsIds() on a non-object in /home/usba/public_html/components/com_comprofiler/plugin/user/plug_cbpaidsubscriptions/cbpaidsubscriptions.class.php on line 4556

We don't know if this is a clue as to what caused our problem... or just a result of the condition of the site at the time a user attempts to reach it.

We are running CB 1.9, CBSubs 2.0.2, Joomla 2.5.8... other information on request.

In the past you have been enormously helpful in providing information on functionality through this forum. We appreciate any advice you can provide in helping us isolate the cause of this fatal technical issue. We can provide any access you might need if such hands-on investigation is recommended.

The error you see after the crash won't be helpful in finding the cause as all kinds of stuff will fail. Your host needs to monitor error logs to see what happens before the failure. Your host MYSQL server is probably crashing. Is this shared hosting or dedicated hosting?

Joomla handles MYSQL connection entirely, we just route our functions to Joomla; perhaps post to and check Joomla.org as someone may already have a solution. Could be a simple permission issue. Ensure your Joomla MYSQL user has full permissions.
