Duplicate email addresses was created by cliffvt
HI,

I know this is contentious, but around 30% of our members are elderly couples, where each of the couples need to be registered on CB but they only have one email address (something about that generation...) So we use Joomla 1.5.26 where we allow duplicate email addresses else we would not be able to manage these members electronically.

However, when I make a backend change to either of their records, I get a "email already exists" error - is there a way I can switch off this check, please?

Cheers

Cliff

Joomla 1.0 and Mambo allow duplicate email registration. Joomla 1.5 and greater does not. Joomla throws this validation error. You'd need to edit Joomla core code to allow duplicates and not throw such an error.

I have the same population of members on my site. Older couples who share a single email address and registration is difficult (read impossible).

We use the email address as the User login ID when each one of the couple has their own email addresses but make one of them enter a unique user name if not.

Have you ben able to resolve this issue since first posted in February?

Do you have any other suggestions for dealing with that generation? I'm 67 and one of the babies in our group. ;)
