Accident - New Joomla installation used same database

11 years 7 months ago #222229 by taichicoach
Working too late, I installed a joomla site and used the same database as an earlier CB site.
Now the original site has reverted to its original state.
Being new to Joomla, I had not yet made backups of files or dB.
The database seems intact, and I made a quick backup as soon as I realized what I had done.

Is there a way to restore the original site?

- Original dB seems intact.
- The same prefixes were used to install the new site as were used in the old site.

No, not unless your host or your self made a backup. If they or you did not then your data is gone.

If, when installing the new site, I had the "backup" box checked, would it still be there somewhere?

The database is 6.6 mb, and the tables seem to be there.

You installed a new Joomla installation to the same database as an existing Joomla database? If you checked backup then yeah the backup tables are from the database it just replaced. In which case just delete the new tables and remove the backup prefix from the old tables. Do a backup or at least a full export before doing this though.
