[SOLVED] Problem with login

[SOLVED] Problem with login was created by jordand714
We use Community Builder and CBSubs. The Site is www.usba.net . We created a login module that had been working fine for months. We also had a welcome module that was a reverse mirror. Suddenly the login and the welcome modules began intermittently displaying or not displaying on the site pages. And when the login displayed it would not consistently accept valid login credentials. It would represent the login as if nothing was entered. Sometimes refreshing the page would then show the user logged in. But going to a different page showed a different status. It was random... Any ideas on what may have happened? Running Joomla 2.5.8, CB 1.9, CBSubs 2.0.2. The Template is called Vision. We are working all night checking everything we can... but after several hours we decided to post here hoping for some direction. Thanks.

Seams to display and react fine here. Do you have caching enabled? Perhaps try purging Joomla cache if enabled and see if issue resolves. CB, or nothing for that matter, timebombs; something must have been changed to cause such an issue. Try to recall what has been changed recently and revert those changes. Test with default Joomla template as well.

Well... here is what we have done...

1. Unpublished the third party cache manager "JotCache" (both component and plugin)
2. Turned off Browser Cache in the plugin "System - Cache"
3. In Global Configuration -> System we set Cache to "Off - Caching disabled"

Plus we cleaned and purged Joomla site cache and cleared our browser cache and cookies. We really tried to remove all cache issues from the equation here. Hope we didn't go overboard... but having worked all night we are a little desperate.

So here is the result... we go to home page, enter a user name and password and we see the login welcome message correctly. Good! Switching from page to page displays consistently. Good! Now it looks OK to us! We are puzzled why this seemed to have come up as a problem at this time... but are happy that it has started behaving correctly.

Thanks for your response. Unless we can consistently demonstrate new bad behavior with all of the caching options turned off we will consider this solved. If you think we should change back any of the cache settings we turned off, please reply and we will carefully test. Just want to be sure we haven't created another potential problem.

Only caching I suggest is Joomlas at most. Even then the cache duration should be reasonable (no more than 3 minutes). Caching is only useful in environments with static content (a bunch of articles, forums maybe, videos, photos, etc..). When you've dynamic content, such as using CB, it's bad as it causes data to quickly go out of date and become inaccurate.
