How to ensure a value in an integer field is unique was created by artpol

Hi,
is it possible to ensure that a value entered by a user in his profile tab is unique?

following szenario:
i have several users that have registrated bevor i implemented CB so they did not fill in all fields i use now for the registration process. as my users have a registration number that is their keyvalue in reallife it has to be unique for every user in community as well.
so i need a way to approve if a user changes this field by editing his profile that he will not enter a number another user has already taken. i use the ajax plugin so users might change this value right on their tab.

Yeah, you should be able to use CB Database Lookup fieldtype plugin, but believe it's just a text field so it's limited in usage. From sounds of it though (registration number code) this should be perfect for your needs.
