I don't know what the invite code field does in the registration form.
I had turned it on, but it was requesting a valid invite code and preventing visitors from registering.
govlinkedin.com
.
I am using Joomla 2.5.9, not 3.0 right now.
My configuration as for an open registration with email verification.
So I am confused as to the need for this field in the registration and what it actually does.
Please explain or link documentation.
What about the invitations to join from the CB component and the Group components? How are those related and how does the invite code fit into that process?
Invite code is provided by and used by CB Invites. When a user is invited to join the site and the field is used on Registration it will be populated with the invite code provided to them by CB Invites. This allows them to join the site without having to use the email address the invite was actually sent to yet still accept the invite. This also allows an invite only environment by setting the field as Required (it's validated properly). It's usage is entirely up to you.

What is confusing is that I included the Invite code in the registration form. I tested with the check mark as "Required" and with the check mark as "Not Required".
In both instances the registration form did not allow me to complete the registration. It was asking for a valid code.
So this means, that if you have someone just casually visiting the site they can't register if the Invite field is included in the form. This is why I removed it.
If you supply any form of input to it then it'll try and validate. Ensure you're using CB Invites 3.0.0 as you could be experiencing a bug already fixed if out of date. When the field is set as not required and you don't supply any input to it then it shouldn't validate and be completely ignored.
