The forum tab shows every post, replies and new topics. No there is no option to change it to only show topics. You'd need to edit the forum integration for that.

Not without disabling forum usage for that group or category entirely. Alternative is to edit the forum plugin and remove its ability to display. If you do that though you might as well just disable the forum integration all together.
