Hi All,

I'm wanting to create several and in time a lot of User / Member Categories, to be shown under User Registration whereby I spend time entering the Member Category names in the back end and when a member registers they get a choice of said Categories to choose from and select their chosen one.

I don't want to use GroupJive as it doesn't fit the overall scheme of what I'm trying to achieve for this sector the site is for.

Any guidance to how I can achieve the above would be much appreciated.

Regards,

You could just create a single select field within CB > Field Management that they can select at registration a value from it. What you do with the value would be entirely up to you. For example you could use it as a filter in a userlist so they can only see users in their same category or have userlists that show only specific category. You could also use CB Conditional to conditionally show/hide fields/tabs based off that field to have different profiles based off category.

Hi Krileon, the CB conditional that you suggested as an solution in this topic i just what I'm looking for.

I wish to have two different types of members and I want different types of values at registration and profile. I made a drop-down field with two different values and I want the choice of this value to determind the rest of fields and values at registration och profile.
If I hade understand your answer to PhoenixUK, I can use CB Conditional to make this happen.

If so, can you please describe to me how I use the plugin?

Yes, CB Conditional will be able to do that. Install and enable it then navigate to CB > Field Management and edit the fields you want to be conditioned and start adding the conditionals. The conditional setup is step by step and walks you through the usage (also be sure to review the info icons). You can also find a CB Conditional use case tutorial below.
