when I try to set up a test gateway and subscribe I get a message
SSL connection error
Unable to make a secure connection to the server. This may be a problem with the server, or it may be requiring a client authentication certificate that you don't have.
Error 107 (net::ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR): SSL protocol error.?
HTTPS is enabled by default for credit card pages, including the dummy gateway. You can disable this and set it to stay on HTTP within CBSubs > Settings > Credit-cards.

I have encountered the same error while doing a live PayPal payment.
All of the generated https://xxx addresses have been placed into the proper PayPal fields.
When the payment was submitted I received the SSL error.
The payment was made,the account was created but the Group was not assigned per the configuration and payment emails were received but not the Welcome emails.
The payment was not logged in CBSubs>Payments.
The basket shows "Not initiated".
Nothing appears in the error log.
This has worked in the past using it live and with promos but all of a sudden I am getting the SSL error.
The only change I made on PayPal was going from Layout C to Layout B and making the change in the Gateway settings.
Don't supply HTTPS URLs to PayPal if you don't have HTTPS. If you're using PayPal Standard this shouldn't matter as we send URLs with the payment with proper scheme. PayPal Pro requires SSL. PayPal Advanced does not require SSL. Please see your documentation and backend of your PayPal gateway for configuration instructions.
