I assume categories is member types and if it's a field then you can add a filter for the category field to limit who is displayed. For public list set the userlists access to public, but keep profile access within CB > Configuration > User Profile as Registered or above. An other issue I have is that I want one of these lists to be sorted by visible categories and the content of the list to be public but not the profiles of the members listed.

Note sure I understand. You want it to be a header? You could use 1 of the 4 columns, set its title to Sport, then add the sport field to it and believe that'd give what you're wanting. My second issue was about the layout of the list. I would like, if possible, the field i choose for sorting to be visible as categories. For example, one of my lists will be sorted by type of sport that my members practise. My wish is that the different sports shows in the list like headlines and not only as search result next to the member.
Somewhat, unfortunately there's a bug in J3.0 and J2.5 that breaks CBs menu usage. If using latest Joomla 3.x or 2.5.x you should see the list id parameter directly below the type parameter when creating a userlist menu item, but am unsure if they'll actually work. The alternative is to use External links and use the URL provided at the top when editing your userlist, but you lose Itemid usage if that's important to you (can't do module, template, or language assignment to external menu links). Is it possible to create a menu link to each list seperate? If I choose menu item users list the link shows both of my list at the same page. I would like to keep them separate if possible.

Use the Sort By on your userlist and sort by the Sport field. This should group everyone up based off that. You can add multiple sorts as well so you could sort by sport then sort by username for example.I want my members to be divided into groups sorted by the sports they practise. My guess is that this is not possible but a girl got to ask:)
Yeah, we tried to fix it in latest Joomla 3.x and 2.5.x releases, but only managed to get it partially fixed in time for their release.Do you Think that this bug will be fixed in the future?
