[SOLVED] Drop down field choices and "Other"

Please PM backend super administrator login credentials and will take a look.

Have reviewed your install and configured everything for you. Please take a look. Your dropdown field and input field are set not to display. Your delimiter field handles the profile display and is set to not display in profile edit now. When using Other your delimiter field will show the value of your input field otherwise will show the value selected in the dropdown. Please let me know if that is the desired affect you're looking for.

At first I thought "No, damn, it's not working!", and it's taken me another 40 mins of figuring out and then Bang, Ahhhh, Oh I see.... it is working!

The confusion is that I was expecting the wording of the original drop down box of "Other" to be replaced by the delimiter while also hiding the text box and the delimiter. I thought it still wasn't working because the delimiter was now showing in Profile and it still had the random title I gave the delimiter, and in Edit Profile it was still showing the words "Other" and the text for the "Other" text-entry box.

But the trick is of course (it's so obvious now!) that the delimiter needed renaming the same as the drop-down, to in effect become the same. It is the delimiter only that shows in the Profile view, it is the delimiter that is doing the trickery and the drop-down and text-entry boxes remain are as they should be, editable (or not if required) in Edit Profile.

You have no idea how difficult that was to grasp and how long I spent on it!

In case anyone else ever gets this far down this post (maybe unlikely), the only thing that needs a Conditional is the text-entry box for "Other": Field conditional self, If>field(The drop down), Is>Operator=Equal, To>Value=Other, Then>Mode=Show, For>(disable Profile and Userlists view)

Yup, delimiter controls the display; the dropdown and text field control the storage. I mean you don't really have to do this as you can rename the text field and the dropdown to be the same then show/hide either/or using CB Conditional, but that makes profile edit confusing as they'd have 2 fields named the same.

Yeah, it has a learning curve. A lot of these things will improve with CB 2.0.
