Hi,

I would like to add a bunch of big files to one of my CB GroupJive groups, so that users of that group can download them. Unfortunately the filesize of these big files is larger than my php_my_upload_filesize value. So, I thought it would be easy to upload the files using ssh or ftp and add them to GroupJive once they are uploaded.

But, unless other tools, GroupJive does not provide a possibility to add files from the server to a group.

Is there any way to add files without the requirement of "uploading" them?

Thanks,
bye
Marcus.

There's no feature for that. What you can do is upload a dummy file and replace it. For example if your file is a ZIP create an empty ZIP named the same as the file you want to upload. Now upload the empty ZIP. Next navigate to the below folder structure and replace it with your actual file.

/images/comprofiler/cbgroupjivefile/CATEGORY_ID/GROUP_ID/YOUR_FILE

Alternative is to just increase your php_my_upload_filesize via PHP.ini.

Thanks, that's what I did (uploaded a dummy file and replaced it). However, I recognized that the filename was changed during the GroupJive upload and got an alphanumeric token attached to the original name. What is that token for?

File names are cleaned for security purposes then given a unique ID to avoid duplicate file uploads from conflicting. When you replace the file ensure you're replacing it with a file that's named exactly the same.
