For Kunena posts you can't at the moment. This is fixed in next release where the description limit parameter within the module will also limit the post length.

The parameter is already there and it works on most activity. It just doesn't work on forum posts. You should see the description and title length parameters within the module. Next release will be fixing these to also work on forum post activity. So you may want to go ahead and get them set that way once you install next release you'll already be good to go.
