Joomla 3.0 has like 5 position 7. Ensure you set it to the correct one for the template you're using.

I am using the protostar template and I tried every module position and I didn't see any module anywhere. Yes I may not have much activity but at least it show an empty module.
If it's showing an empty module then you've got the right position. Check the modules parameters to ensure it's set to show the activity you're wanting. There is a date cut off feature to prevent it from showing really old activity, which is probably what is preventing your activity from showing (default cut off is 1 month).

Sorry I meant to say "It should at least show an empty module."
I have tried all the module positions for protostar and it doesn't show the module on my frontend. The only modules showing are the mainmenu and cb login module. I tried using another template but it gave me errors so it seems I am stuck with protostar
