I've disabled native user registration and enabled registration within CB.
When a user fails a login attempt, they have options for automated password recovery. When they click on this and attempt to do so... they get the messsage:
You are not authorized to view this page! You need to log in.
I've searched a good deal on it and I can't seem to find the config or someone else who's experiencing the same challenge.
You need to have a public and published Joomla menu link to CBs profile page. Please see your CB documentation within the Advanced downloads section as it walks you through setting up CB.

I am having similar problems both with login and also registration. We have been running with CB for some 4 years now, but for some reason I am now getting authorization issues, both on public registration page, but also sometimes on login attempts. Also requesting a lost password is also consistently failing.
I am running Joomla 2.5.16, CB 1.9.1, CBSubs 3 GPL. I have disabled registration on Joomla side. My Profile menu was actually under a registered menu (which I have not had a problem with for many months, so why suddenly now?). I have set the top menu AND the Profile menu item to Public, cleared cache, cleared temp dir, etc, but i have the same problems.
Any other ideas on how to resolve? Currently no users can register to this 2000+ user site
Joomla 2.5.16 and 3.2 introduced a username change. Usernames no longer allow spaces. This is likely your issue. Please see the below topic regarding this.
As I understand it the next releases of Joomla will be reverting this change. There is nothing we can really do about it as its a core Joomla issue.
