[SOLVED] Search Page Display Question

[SOLVED] Search Page Display Question was created by tcppawebmaster
Again, new at Joomla and CB. Everything is going well, but I would like to display the search user list in a specific way. It does allow me to search, but I have to click the Search Users Link to display the search criteria.

I would Like to show the search criteria first as shown in the enclosed attachment.

Any direction on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

TCPPA Webmaster

Edit your userlist within CB > List Management and use the "URL for search link to this list:" link shown at the top as your URL (beginning with index.php) in an External Joomla menu link and the search will be expanded by default.

Hallo Krileon,

I would also like to show the search by default. I also know how to get the URL in top of the list, as you discribed it.
But I can't use this External Joomla menu link if the search has to be the homepage. System does not allow External Page as homepage.
How can I handle this?

thanks a lot

You can't. It's an either/or scenario.

How can I handle this?

If you're on Joomla 2.5.11 or 3.1.1 you should see the parameters below "Type" when creating an Internal menu item to a userlist, but I don't know if they work entirely. Aside from that the only solution is to create an internal userlist URL then edit it in your database to add listid and search mode to its URL.

parameters below "Type" ....
if I choose userlist, the system always sets "Logout action".

Can you discribe a bit more what you mean with "the only solution is to create an internal userlist URL then edit it in your database to add listid and search mode to its URL." How does that work???

Thanks

That's normal and safe to ignore.

You would need to create an internal menu item to the userlist page. Then navigate to your _menus database table and modify the URL. You'd then need to append "&listid=LIST_ID_HERE" to the URL for it to be an internal menu item to a specific userlist. You can then append the searchmode parameter if needed (you can see the two parameters when editing your userlist and reviewing their URLs at the top).
