Here is the screen shot.

The field condition is cut off in the screen shot- the entry in the field says
[sgj_user_usergroup_map`.`group_id]

It's because you have access set to "All Non-Registered Users". This means "Guests" or people who are not logged in. Set it to "Everybody" and it should work fine as the user object is populated with all of those triggers so the user is Registered and above at that point.

Your conditional also does not look correct, but I can not see the entire thing. Please copy and paste your conditional here in a reply. It does not appear to be a valid substitution though. Please see the below tutorial for substitution usage information.

thanks. Here's the conditional

[sgj_user_usergroup_map`.`group_id]

I didn't know if I needed to include the table name or not. group_id is the field in Joomla where the user group # is stored.

That's not a valid substitution. That value does not exist in the CB user object so it is not available to substitute; nor is that a valid substitution usage. Please see the tutorial above for substitution usage information. If you need to limit it to a specific usergroup then just select that usergroup in the Access parameter. For CB their usergroup id(s) are accessed via [gid] and [gids], but it's advised to just use the Access parameter.

I have 4 user groups set up in Joomla user manager under Registered.

After user registration is complete, I want to add the value of the Joomla user group to the new field named usertype in CB.

So, for example, after registration, user is automatically assigned to the Joomla usergroup "agent-basic", then I also want "agent-basic" populated to the cb_usertype field.

How would I accomplish this?

You can assign usergroups by reviewing the below tutorial.

www.joomlapolis.com/support/tutorials/107-use-cases/18237-assigning-usergroup-based-on-cb-field-value

To update a field value basically follow the same tutorial except use a Field action to change a fields value.
