Hello, I have joomla 2.5.11 with groupjive and kunena 3.0.

I want to restrict the access to some topics in kunena using groups from groupjive. But, in Goupjive>Configuration>Integrations>Forum>General I can only select Kunena 1.5, 1.7 or 2.0, or autodetect. Not 3.0, which is the one we have installed.

I tried selecting 2.0 and autodetect, but it doesn't seem to work when I try to assign the permissions in kunena categories.

When I go to the categories managers>security in Kunena, and I select the category permissions tab, I can select Community Builder Access Control Type, but there is no way to select one of the Groups in the Group jive group field.

The Group Jive Group field is correctly populated with the GJ groups I created, but I cannot select anyone, so tests are failing. Is that because I am using kunena 3.0? Is there a newer version compatible with 3.0? Or what solution do you recommend? downgrading to kunena 2.0?

Regards

Yes, it works fine. Leave it on Auto or select Kunena 2.0. You don't configure permissions. GroupJive handles those automatically. You need to create a parent level category that will hold all your GroupJive forum categories then select that new parent level category from GJs backend. Now when you create GJ Categories or GJ Groups it will create their forums automatically. If you've existing GJ Categories or GJ Groups then run GJ Tools after configuring the parent level category and it'll ask if you want to fix them.

The fixing step was the missing one. :)

Magically the new forums appeared in kunena, associated to the corresponding GJ Groups, after the fix. I understand now why the assignment of permissions is not necessary.

But with the solution appeared a new problem. We need to group many subforums inside a category (a GJ restricted category). And need that the permission of the parent group (related to a GJ group) is inherited to their subforums.

I have this

Group A (associated to a GJ Group A) and Gourp B (associated to a GJ Group B)

And inside Group A we have Subforum A1 and Subforum A2.

I need that only the users of GJ group A could access Subforum A1 and Subforum A2. Users of Group B shouldn't access Group A, neither its subforums A1 and A2. Is that possible? I made some tests, but could not get it. I tried different permissions types on the subforums (CB and Access Level)

You do not add forum categories to GJ forums. They are created when you create categories and/or groups. Adding new categories manually has nothing to do with GJ and GJ will not protect them.

Thanks krileon,

It means that to have that kind of security en subforums, I should create subgroups in GJ to be represented and proteceted by GJ?

Yes, to add sub categories to a groups forum category you need to add nested groups to that group.
