Nope, they're pretty self explanatory. Field privacy controls view access to fields. Tab privacy controls view access to tabs. Profile privacy controls view access to the entire profile. By default it all should be public so you would've had to set the default higher than public or your users changed it themselves within profile edit.Do you have a place where you thoroughly explain the various settings of the CB Privacy plugin?

"Normal CB settings" is as if CB Privacy isn't even installed. It's a way of not having privacy controls for a tab/field. All tabs/fields are set to this by default (so no privacy controls by default). How do I know what "Normal CB Settings" are? Is this set somewhere?
No, it's the "profile_privacy" field as configured in CB > Field Management and as seen/set in profile edit. It's disabled by default so you would've had to enable it already. When you say "Profile privacy controls view access to the entire profile", do you mean in the Configuration Manager > User Profile tab > Allow Access to field?
That's tab privacy to control the visibility of that specific tab on your profile. When I go into my profile to update it, under Contact Information, on the first line there is no field title or field, but all the way on the right is a button with what looks like a globe and then it says Public.
For that specific tab, yes. For your entire profile, no.So I'm guessing that is indicating that the default is to give public access the profile.
Correct, this is entire profile privacy as the description implies. You have your entire profile set to Private so no one but your self or CB moderators can access it.Then at the bottom, there is a field title "Profile Privacy" and the appearing selection has a lock on it and says "Private". I read the information on the field which says "this determines who can see your profile ....".
You either set it as Private, edit the field and set the Default value of it as Private, or someone else did (another site admin perhaps?). That field is not enabled by default so you would have had to of configured it at some point unless another developer is involved that perhaps has done this for you. That leaves me scratching my head. I don't know how my Profile Privacy got set to Private and I'm not sure what the top-right selection with the world is.
