A doesn't work because it does not make any sense. You want the site locked down, but then you want Bloggers not locked down. That doesn't make any sense to CB. That's not how it works.

The only way to accomplish this is to have ALL profiles Public. Then check if a profile is a Blogger and if they are then don't redirect. If they are not and the viewing user is not logged in then redirect. I've already provided how to do this using CB Auto Actions.

The alternative is to use CB Privacy and configure its Profile Privacy field to be moderator configured only then set the profile privacy for non-Bloggers to "Users".

You seam to be trying to use both these solutions at the same time, which is not going to work. Pick one and use it. Do not use both. CB Privacy is going to be more complex as well as requires manual work. CB Auto Actions requires a way to determine if a profile is a Blogger profile, which is typically done using a CB Field.

I don't know how much more to explain this, sorry. Please PM backend login credentials and will configure it for you. Please understand we do not normally do this and I will not do so again after completed. If you should need further configuration help after this then you need to review purchasing our "Professional services by the hour" found on your Membership profile tab.

OK, I appreciate you making an exception.

I am pretty sure this worked before.

The template people deleted CB contact page and I wonder if this screwed things up?

finalbug.net/yakcontact

I put it back but things just we not the same afterwards.

Please take the simple route and let me know how you did it.

I will then post screen shots so if some one else lands in this situation they might be able to use this thread at least as a starting point.

I will send you the details of two Users logins.

One is an Admin. the other is a normal Registered User.

I really think that this could all be a little bit more intuative

Thanks for bearing with me though. :cheer:

best

Paul

Have configured it for you and it's now working as expected. All profiles are publicly accessible if the profile has "Blogger" field checked. If it is not then the user must be logged in to view the profile. You can test this as follows.

Blogger: finalbug.net/members/userprofile/paurray
Non-Blogger: finalbug.net/members/userprofile/ysbrand

When not logged in you can access the Bloggers profile, but you can not access the Non-Bloggers profile.

When logged in you can access everyones profile regardless of the Blogger field.

It was not working properly because the User parameter for your auto action was set to Automatic instead of set to User as instructed in my reply below.

Great thanks Kyle for guiding me through this and posting what the problem was. :woohoo:

Sorry that I that I did not succeed in following your instructions exactly.

Everything is functioning pretty much the way it should.

There are two minor detail that you could maybe help me with.

I thought that the I needed this here: ”User Profile (mandatory!)”

Would you mind telling me why you deleted it and why I actually do not need it?

The second detail is as follows.

Normally I create a menu point eg “test123” and I go to the “menu module” and make sure that the menu point “test123” is there and active.

Then if I have some kind of module like a list of “BUG Categories” showing up in the side bar and I want this to show on my newly created page “test123”...

1) go to the “BUG Categories” Module and then go to the “Module Assignment”
2) Here I select the menu/page in this case test 123
3) Go to front end and I see that my “BUG Categories” now shows on the page test123

Please advise how can I get a particular module to show for pages that do not show up in my “Module Assignment” Tab!

If I go to a blogger profile when not loged in. eg: Archy

finalbug.net/component/comprofiler/userprofile/Archy

Everything works. Except that some module do not show.

I do not have a menu page as such in my menu manager where I can switch a module on or off.

A similar situation is as such.

finalbug.net/component/comprofiler/userprofile/paurray

My guess is that:

finalbug.net/component/comprofiler/userprofile/Archy

Is a sub set of

finalbug.net/component/comprofiler/userprofile

and once this works it does not matter if I go to

finalbug.net/component/comprofiler/userprofile/Archy

or

finalbug.net/component/comprofiler/userprofile/paurray

Please advise how to proceed, so that I can get modules to show on the above pages.

thanks

Paul

It is mandatory, but you already have a public CB Profile menu link. I also did not delete the contact one, but is simply unpublished. You can re-publish it if you like, but gathered from your previous post you did not want to use that menu item.

Please advise how can I get a particular module to show for pages that do not show up in my “Module Assignment” Tab!

You can't. Module assignment works off Itemid. If it isn't an Internal Joomla menu item with an Itemid then you can't assign anything to it.

Please advise how to proceed, so that I can get modules to show on the above pages.

All of those should have an Itemid. If not then enable or create a public and published Joomla menu item to CBs profile page. If still not working then wherever those URLs are constructed could be being built incorrectly (no Itemid appended).
