We have no such module. Is this a Software4Joomla module or some other 3rd party module? We have been maintaining S4J modules and if is the case Nick can comment more on its usage.
As far as your avatar usage issue I don't quite understand the problem. It doesn't matter if they have an avatar or not as it wraps it in an "a" element to make it a clickable link. So even those with just the default avatar (didn't upload one) will be clickable.
