OK, after a long time of struggling with this, the issue DID turn out to be a permission issue. In the change from Joomla 1.5 to Joomla 3, CB changed the way the Permissions are handled.
In the "Contact Info" Tab,
for "User Group to allow access to"
(Old deprecated method of Joomla 1.5, do not use here. Keep setting "-- Everybody --" and Use View Access Level above instead):
I had this set to "Everybody"
HOWEVER, in my transition/migration OR by default,
the "View Access Level:" was set to "Registered"
Hence, the public could not see the data...so, the moral of the story is, for Joomla 3, make sure to check these permissions for all of your tabs IF you've done a migration...onward, Tim
